KK ARTS FESTIVAL 2018 is just getting started!


The 8th edition of the KK Arts Festival is organized by The Society of Performing Arts, Sabah (SPArKS) and is ready to have a whole month of awe and excitement with all sorts of artsy showcases and performances! The festival has already kicked off with a musical titled ‘A Crazy Little Thing Called Love’ on the 9th until 12th August.

Fret not my friend, the festival has just begun! Here are the upcoming shows you should check out at the festival:


  1. A Tale That Must Be Told: Macbeth (Theater)

Date / Time: 18th August 2018 / 3pm

Venue: Sabah Trade Centre Mini Theatre

Tickets: RM30 (Adult) RM20 (Students)

Double double, toil, and trouble! Performed by KL Shakespeare Players (KLSP), the famous Shakespearian icon Macbeth is making way into the festival for young audiences from the age of 8 and families too!  


  1. Shakespeare Demystified: Romeo & Juliet (Theater)

Date / Time: 18th August 2018 / 7.30pm

Venue: Sabah Trade Centre Mini Theatre

Tickets: RM40, RM70 and RM100

Everyone knows the tale of star-crossed lovers. Also played by KLSP, this play is expected to be more than ordinary.


  1. Le Cosaire: A Pirate’s Tale (Full-Length Ballet)

Date / Time: 24th August at 8 pm / 25th August at 3pm and 8pm

Venue: JKKN Sabah Auditorium

Tickets: RM50 and RM100

Yes, ballet! Just how often do we have ballet shows in KK?! These ballerinas and dancers come all the way from KL to mesmerize us in their enticing performance!


  1. Kizomba Fusion & Urban Kiz Dance Workshop With Azlan Mckechnie (Dance Workshop)

Date / Time: 28th August / 1pm to 5pm

Venue: HS Fitness, Plaza Shell

Now, this is for all you dance enthusiasts out there who can't wait to break a sweat on the dance floor! Experience a dance workshop from the best of the best!

  1. Bazzar Music Fest (Music & Exhibition)

Date / Time: 31st August, 1st and 2nd September / 10am until 10pm

Venue: Laman Seni - Wisma Budaya KK

Tickets: FREE

Who’s ready to rock out with some of our talented local bands all through the morning until night? Some rockstars are MAKHLUK, WAN KIBOT and BOIL, and entry is absolutely free!


  1. The Journey Charity Concert (Music & Dance)

Date / Time: 8th September / 6.30pm until 10.30pm

Venue: JKKN Sabah Auditorium

Tickets: RM50 and RM100

Witness KK’s brightest talents shine the stage at this charity concert! Proceeds will go to the underprivileged children at Caring for the Future Malaysia (CFFM).


  1. Sandcastle (Theater)

Date / Time: 22 September / 7pm

Venue: To Be Announced

Tickets: RM30 and RM35

Here’s a theater show by the Green Leaf Theater House, back to excite us with some theater themes that may relate to our everyday lives.


  1. A Night of Brazilian Jazz with Grupo Da Bossa (Music)

Date / Time: 23rd September / 7pm - 9.30pm

Venue: Party Play Gaya Street

Tickets: RM70 (free 2-course dinner!

The name says it all. Make sure to get in the jazz before the KK Arts Festival ends!


  1. Aerial & Dance Festival (Dance)

Date / Time: 29th and 30th September

Venue: J Dance Blue 7 / J Dance Kolombong

Tickets: FREE

The festival closes with a dance showcase and competition, highlighting street dance battles and more!
